The game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics on Wednesday is a highly-anticipated one given the history of both teams, and the key additions they made over the summer. With Lonzo Ball scheduled to go up against Kyrie Irving for the first time in his NBA career, many are looking forward to the game to see how he fares against the All-Star point guard.

In line with building the hype for the matchup, ESPN is promoting the game by coming up with a theme entitled “Lonzo Wednesday” to further intrigue the fans. However, it does sound like a marketing strategy from LaVar Ball, who has been known for getting a lot of attention to his son.

Lonzo Ball has been struggling in his rookie season so far, especially with shots from the field. He has only converted on 29.9 percent, and has only scored in double figures twice in 10 games. Ball has made up for it though with his rebounding and assists, which has been key to the Lakers’ recent resurgence, winning their last two assignments, leading to their .500 record.

It remains to be seen if Lonzo Ball can step up his game versus one of the elite point guards in the NBA today, but one thing certain is that the promotional theme could fire up both him and Irving, with the veteran wanting to make Wednesday his night instead.

Still, it's extremely hard to fathom how a good old Celtics-Lakers matchup can be overshadowed by Lonzo Ball, who's played well below the bar that LaVar has set for him even before his name got called up on draft night.
