The Los Angeles Lakers averted a third-straight loss, as they took care of business Sunday, beating the Denver Nuggets at home, 127-109.
Several Lakers had good performances with seven on the team scoring in double figures, including Julius Randle, who came off the bench and fired a game-high 24 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the floor, while also grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out five assists.
It was essentially Randle’s best performance in a long while, as those 24 points were also his most to date this season. When asked of his opinion about why Randle had a good night, Lakers head coach Luke Walton replied as though he was posed with a trigonometry problem, per Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints.

Walton might very well be just playing, though. Julius Randle obviously had a field day scoring around the rim with Denver’s top big men out of the game early. Nuggets center Nikola Jokic was ejected in the second quarter, while power forward Paul Millsap exited the game in the same period and didn’t return due to a wrist injury. With Denver’s frontline stripped of its best interior defenders, Randle bullied his way in the shaded area, scoring 20 of the Lakers’ 70 points in the paint.
Julius Randle will look to build on his momentum as the Lakers play the Chicago Bulls this Tuesday at home.
