Another day, another player deciding to take a jab at LA Clippersâ star Paul George. This time, it came from Los Angeles Lakers forward Jared Dudley.
Dudley recently released a short book on his time and experiences inside the NBA's Orlando bubble. In it, he explained how he and the Lakers took exception to comments George made during his introductory press conference in 2019. âDisprespectful,' is the word Dudley used to describe George's comments, per an excerpt in the book.
âWe hear some of those guys talking about how they're the team to beat in LA. It's fine if Kawhi says stuff like that. He's defending a championship. We don't trip if someone like Patrick Beverley is talking trash' that's how he feeds his family. We get it. We respect the hustle. But we think it's disrespectful for Paul George, who hasn't won, to put himself on the level of Bron and AD. This motivates us.â

When asked about the comments before the Clippers' game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, head coach Tyronn Lue defended his star in Paul George by asking the biggest question: who really cares what Jared Dudley has to say?

You know we know how we feel about PG â Our team, our organization. And thatâs all that matters.
âHeâs having a great season, a great year. Heâs healthy. Heâs done a lot of great things for this team. And thatâs all weâre worried about. As far as for me, I really donât care what people say on the outside. And, you know, I hope PG doesnât either.â

There's a chance George heard the comments by Dudley because he came out and was on fire against the Cavs. He finished with 36 points, four rebounds, and six assists on 13-of-30 shooting from the field and 8-of-9 from beyond the arc.
