Adam Silver and Magic Johnson seem to have a good relationship, which is usually important between a team's president of basketball operations and the commissioner.

At the Legends Brunch on Sunday morning though, Adam Silver got a pretty good diss in on Magic Johnson according to Tas Melas of NBATV:

Adam Silver at the Legends Brunch acknowledging Magic Johnson: “Magic, thanks for paying for the brunch today.”

That, of course, is referring to the fines that Magic Johnson has had to pay the league office for tampering since he became the GM of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Last summer Johnson was fined $500,000 when he made a comment about how good Paul George would look in a Los Angeles Lakers jersey on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

George was still under contract when the comments were made, and it's against league rules for a player or someone in the organization to try and entice another player from a different team to come to their team.

Most people believed that was the right call fining Johnson for the comments, but $500,000 is a serious fine. That, however, isn't the only time that Johnson has been fined for tampering.

In late January Johnson gave his thoughts to Nick Friedell of ESPN about Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“I’m just happy he’s starting in the All-Star game because he deserves that,” Johnson said after comparing Antetokounmpo’s game to his own. “And he’s going to be like an MVP, a champion, this dude he’s going to put Milwaukee on the map. And I think he’s going to bring them a championship one day.”

Those comments were also deemed to be against the anti-tampering rule and he was fined $50,000. Even with those fines though, it appears that Adam Silver's and Magic Johnson's relationship are still in good shape.
