Anthony Davis will face off against his former team for the first time on Wednesday night, when the Lakers meet the Pelicans inside the Smoothie King Center. Davis isn't the only player making a return to New Orleans, though, as DeMarcus Cousins will be back in the city where he played 65 games and tore his Achilles.
Though neither of them are with the team now, Davis admits that he wonders what the Pelicans might have become if he and Cousins remained on the roster:
“We can only imagine what we could have done,” Davis said, via The Athletic. “Me and him were definitely a force to reckon with. And having Jrue (Holiday) playing the way he was playing and obviously (Rajon) Rondo leading the pack, it was something that we wish he could have stayed healthy and we could have made a run at something special.
“But then another opportunity here (with the Lakers) and the same thing happened.”
Unfortunately, Cousins is expected to miss all of this season as he recovers from an ACL injury. Davis, on the other hand, has been thriving with LeBron James and the Lakers.

Davis isn't usually one to get nervous before a game, but he knows Wednesday night's matchup in The Big Easy is a bit different. In fact, he says it might be the biggest game of the season.
Let's see how Davis performs against his former team.
