As expected, the LeBron James-Anthony Davis pick-and-roll has been lethal for the Los Angeles Lakers this season.

James leads the NBA in assists per game, while Davis is averaging 27.8 points and feasting at the rim thanks to LeBron's passing.

After the Lakers defeated the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday, Davis explained to reporters why he and James are dominating together.

“The two-man game pick-and-roll is tough to guard,” Davis said, via LeBron Wire. “When you have a guy like LeBron going downhill at the big and then me rolling to the basket, you kind of have to pick your poison.

“He [James] does a great job of reading it, when to pass it and when to go finish. It’s been effective. We’re constantly learning each other, trying to get better and finding ways to score besides the pick-and-roll. But it’s been effective for us.”

Davis put up 46 points, 13 rebounds and three steals against the Pelicans. He also shot an impressive 71.4 percent from the field.

In his first season with the Lakers, Davis has been a monster on both ends of the court. He’s averaging 27.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 50.9 percent from the field, 30.1 percent from beyond the arc and 86.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Behind Davis and James, the Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference. They are 28-7 and appear on their way to going on a deep playoff run this season.

LeBron, who is playing like an MVP now that he's healthy again, is putting up 25.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 11.0 assists in his second season with the Lakers.
