Los Angeles Lakers forward Brandon Ingram has fully embraced the role as the primary ball-handler when LeBron James isn't on the floor. Often times, Ingram and James haven't meshed well on the floor because Ingram is used to creating offense with the ball in his hands.

After missing some time with injury, however, Brandon Ingram realized how efficient and free-flowing the team can be when they play unselfishly.

Ingram opened up about his realization, via the Lakers' official Twitter account:

“How good guys were moving without the basketball, I think most of the time we’ve been getting the best shot for the team. I think we did really, really good beyond the 3-point line, so we’re shooting with more confidence. Of course on the defensive side, we’re getting better and better each game I think when I’m active and when I’m moving around… I think that’s when I play much better. Just cutting off the basketball and having a chance to attack not only for myself but also for my teammates.”

Ingram is averaging 15.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 47 percent from the field. Because he's pretty one-dimensional as an offensive player, Ingram is basically an average player. His plus minus is dead set at zero.

For Ingram to improve on this Lakers team, he needs to focus on playing off-ball with LeBron. Spotting up for threes, cutting off of screens and not hogging the ball.

The Lakers are currently 18-13 and are 4th in the NBA's Western Conference under head coach Luke Walton. They will play the New Orleans Pelicans next this upcoming Friday at home.
