New signing DeMarcus Cousins will go back to his old No. 15 jersey with the Los Angeles Lakers for this upcoming 2019-20 season. The big man announced his choice with a simple “#15” post on his Twitter account on Tuesday.

Cousins has been wearing No. 0 for the past three seasons, doing so first upon joining Anthony Davis with the New Orleans Pelicans at the middle of the 2016-17 season and continuing to do so when he joined the Golden State Warriors on a $5.3 million deal for the mid-level exception.

The No. 15 is more-so symbolic to his dominant self with the Sacramento Kings, a player that was constantly in the top-three in usage numbers during his tenure with the team.

Boogie played only 30 regular season games with the Warriors last season, showing a few flashes of his old self, but still clearly limited by his lateral movement and lack of explosion around the rim.

Cousins' averages of 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game were no small sample, but dwarfed in comparison to his gigantic 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks that had his primed for his best all-around season yet in 2017-18, which was cut short at 48 games due to his Achilles injury.

Now a year-and-a-half removed from his major injury, it's unknown if Cousins will be able to regain that dominance, but the change of number might just help him get into that state of mind after joining a contender for the second straight summer.
