The Los Angeles Lakers suffered what feels like their worst loss of the season against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Considering their tumultuous year thus far, that's not a statement you can throw around lightly.

The Timberwolves had lost their previous six games by an average margin of defeat of 10.7 points. Those losses included two double-digit losses against the Los Angeles Clippers and an 18-point blowout against the lowly Orlando Magic.

Dwight Howard was vocal to Mike Trudell on what he felt became the Lakers' downfall in the loss.

“I think when we tend to allow things to happen on the floor, the mishaps, we get down on ourselves,” admitted the Lakers big man. “We get down on our teammates – and it might show.”

The Lakers haven't looked like the championship contenders that most expected them to be after the Russell Westbrook trade. While growing pains were to be expected, the highs have been few and far between the lows they've faced at this point in the season.

“We have to keep our mindset positive,” continued Howard. “We know that every team we play is gonna come in and they're gonna make crazy shots. They're gonna play extra hard because they're playing against us. So, we got to keep our energy the same throughout the game.”

The losses have been loud in LA early on in the season. But the hard truth is that things don't get any quieter. The purple and gold must be able to power through such adversity as the season goes on. Once the Lakers get healthier and continue to build their chemistry, things could turn around just as quickly.
