The 2022 NBA Trade Deadline has come and gone, with the Los Angeles Lakers failing to make any moves to strengthen their roster. While that's undoubtedly left many fans of the team disappointed as they currently sit below .500, head coach Frank Vogel remains optimistic that LA has the perfect core to turn things around.
“I think with that deadline passing and having a refreshed mindset today, our group had really good energy about going out and trying to win a game [Saturday] and understanding and believing in what we can do this year,” the Lakers boss said.

There were also reports that came out on Friday saying LeBron James and Anthony Davis weren't pleased with Rob Pelinka making no trades on Thursday given the state of their season. While certain sources said Pelinka spoke with the Lakers superstar duo prior to the deadline, other reports suggest differently.
It's no secret Russell Westbrook has struggled to fit in with the Lakers and the Houston Rockets offered John Wall to LA for their former player on Thursday, but the Lakers weren't interested in including the first-round pick that Houston was looking for in a package.
Now, the team can focus on potentially finding some more talent on the buyout market. Although Los Angeles is in a huge rut right now, there's still an entire second half left. Lots of time to turn things around.
