The Los Angeles Lakers will begin a five-game preseason campaign on October 5 against the reigning Western Conference champions Golden State Warriors, but for fans who are expecting to see LeBron James, don't get your hopes too high.
According to Lakers head coach Frank Vogel, LeBron will not see a lot of action in the preseason.
Frank Vogel says LeBron James will play "not a ton" this preseason. Enough to gain chemistry and flow with teammates, but the Lakers want to "be intelligent" in how they use him before the regular season. pic.twitter.com/jxX9fQOo52

James, who will be entering his 17th season in the NBA, will probably play 20-24 minutes per game in the preseason. The Lakers are being cautious about his health, especially since his injuries are one of the main reasons why they missed the playoffs last season.

Then again, this really shouldn't surprise anyone, as preseason games don't really matter that much. It's just a way for the league to get teams ready for the official start of the season, which will be on October 22.
The Lakers are one of the favorites to win the championship next season, and LeBron will play a key role in accomplishing that goal. However, he won't be alone this time around, as he'll be teaming up with All-Star forward Anthony Davis, whom LA acquired in a trade a couple of months ago.
LeBron has made it clear that he wants the Lakers' offense to run through AD, so him not playing in the preseason will give Davis the opportunity to be familiar with the team's style of play.
Up to this point, there are still a lot of questions surrounding the Lakers, but we'll only have to wait a couple of weeks more to see if they have what it takes to win the NBA championship this season.
