The Feb. 7 trade deadline is right around the corner and the Los Angeles Lakers are growing pessimistic about locking in a trade for Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans.
Ramona Shelburne of ESPN supported a report by Adrian Wojnarowski that stated that people within the Pelicans organization to allow the trade deadline to pass with Davis still on the team.
Yes. So far, the Lakers have felt conversations with New Orleans have been one-sided and they are growing increasingly pessimistic about the Pelicans willingness to do a deal with them. https://t.co/vbMEcLTHwY

According to reports, the Lakers have offered Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, and two first-round picks for Davis, as well as the readiness to take on the remaining $12.7M on Solomon Hill's contract.
The Pelicans' unwillingness to part with Davis this season might put a grinding halt to what could be the biggest midseason trade in NBA history. Since apart from the Lakers, the Boston Celtics — who have enough attractive assets to match Davis' value — is among the top favorites of landing the 25-year-old.
Earlier, Davis gave out a list of four teams he's willing to stay long-term upon getting traded. These teams are the Lakers, Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, and the New York Knicks. Among the aforementioned ball clubs, only the Lakers have made an offer. The Knicks, for their part, have gained traction after sealing a trade package that involved Kristaps Porzingis, which allowed them to clear significant cap space for two max players.
Davis, a six-time All-Star, will become a free agent after next season or July of 2020 to be specific. Apart from his trade request from the Pelicans, he also made it clear that he won't sign a five-year, $239M super max contract with the Pelicans.
