Los Angeles Lakers big man JaVale McGee will miss his team's game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night as a result of an illness, according to the team.

This will mark the third straight game McGee has been sidelined due to the illness, as he also missed the Lakers' losses against the Washington Wizards and Brooklyn Nets earlier in the week.

McGee has actually been sick since last week, but he played through it during a win over the Charlotte Hornets, finishing with 19 points, six rebounds and three blocks in 18 minutes.

The 30-year-old is having a very solid season, averaging 11.8 points, 6.7 boards and 2.6 blocks per game while shooting 62.6 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Eyebrows were raised when Los Angeles signed McGee over the summer, as it was said that LeBron James desired high-IQ players, and McGee is not known for his basketball IQ.

However, he has fit in perfectly with James and Co. on both ends of the floor.

McGee, who played his collegiate basketball at the University of Nevada, was originally selected by the Washington Wizards in the first round (18th pick overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft. He played in 75 games during his rookie campaign, registering 6.5 points and 3.9 rebounds a night.

The Flint, Mi. native spent the first three and a half years of his career with the Wizards before being dealt to the Denver Nuggets midway through the 2011-12 season.

After spending parts of four seasons with the Nuggets, McGee bounced around between the Philadelphia 76ers and Dallas Mavericks before landing with the Golden State Warriors ahead of the 2016-17 campaign. McGee would then go on to win back-to-back titles with the Warriors.
