LeBron James and Anthony Davis both made their preseason debuts for the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, as they took on Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns. Unsurprisingly, both L.A. superstars didn't log heavy minutes in the contest, and the fact that they were both iced up on the bench produced a few jokes about their current health status.
LeBron and AD played just 15 and 18 minutes, respectively, and both guys had ice packs on their knees after their brief cameos:

LeBron finished with 11 points (on 4-of-10 shooting), two rebounds, two assists, a steal, and three turnovers. On the other hand, Davis managed 10 points (on 3-of-4 from the floor), four boards, a steal, and a block. Needless to say, it was a light workload for both superstars on the evening.
The Lakers, who won their two opening preseason contests against cross-town rivals the Los Angeles Clippers, will return to action on Friday in a rematch against the Phoenix Suns. That will be their final preseason game before they take the court on opening night against the Clippers.
It remains to be seen if both LeBron and Davis will suit up against the Suns on Friday, but at this point, it wouldn't be surprising if coach Frank Vogel opts to give his stars a night off.
In the case that they end up playing against Phoenix, they likely won't be logging heavy minutes anyway. It's going to be a tough season ahead for the defending champs, and both James and AD will need to be at their very best health-wise.
