The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to retool their roster in hopes to defend their NBA title in the 2020-21 season. With the offseason on the horizon, the Lakers are currently undecided on what to do with Kyle Kuzma, per SNY's Ian Begley.

Entering the upcoming season, Kuzma is going to be playing the final year of his rookie contract. The offensive-minded forward is set to make $3.5 million, but he's reportedly expecting a “sizable deal” from the Lakers this offseason.

However, Los Angeles is mulling over all of their options to maximize their window with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. One trade that has reportedly been discussed is a trade involving Kuzma and Danny Green for DeMar DeRozan.

Back in 2017, Kuzma was a first-round selection by the Lakers out of Utah. In his rookie season, he would display his offensive skillset, posting 16.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

Kuzma would then have the best season of his career in 2018-19, scoring 18.7 points per game, while averaging 2.5 assists per game as well. This past season, Kuzma was relegated to a bench role with the Lakers, serving as the team's sixth man.

The stretch four would record career-lows in points (12.8), rebounds (4.5), and assists (1.3) per game. Nevertheless, he would be one of the many cogs that helped the Lakers secure their first NBA championship in a decade.

In all likeliness, Los Angeles doesn't want to corner themselves by signing Kuzma to a long-term deal this offseason. At the same time, they could consider holding onto him or trading him for a proven contributor.
