News broke of LeBron James buying a share of the Boston Red Sox of the MLB on Tuesday, stirring up reactions across the sports world. With the Los Angeles Lakers star dipping his feet into the baseball market, Erik Spoelstra shared his reaction to the news.

Throughout his career in the NBA, LeBron James has been known to root for a variety of teams in different sports. But when it comes to baseball teams, the Lakers star has typically been seen supporting the New York Yankees, who happen to be the biggest rivals of the Red Sox.

On Tuesday, the Fenway Sports Group—who happen to operate the Red Sox and Liverpool Football Club—announced that RedBird Capital Partners would become the third-largest partner of the company. As a result, James and his longtime friend, Maverick Carter, will now have an unknown ownership stake in the FSG.

Erik Spoelstra coached James when the legendary forward was with the Miami Heat from 2010 to 2014. The Heat won two NBA championships when James was with the franchise, helping Spoelstra win his only titles.

The Lakers superstar has attempted to venture out with his business off of the court throughout the years, and he's also a part-owner of Liverpool FC. Fast forward to now and James is going to have a minor ownership stake in the biggest rival of his favorite MLB team.
