Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is one of the best playoff performers of this generation. While his NBA Finals record has often been ridiculed, it is also a fact that his presence alone makes a team instant title contenders.

With that said, it is not surprising to see LeBron replicate a franchise record that hasn't been seen in 30 years. As he helped the Lakers eliminate the Blazers in Game 5 of their first-round series, The King also became the first LA player since James Worthy in 1988 to record a 30-point triple-double in the postseason.

LeBron James was spectacular for the Lakers as they booked their ticket to the second round. He finished the game with 36 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, all while shooting 73.7 percent from the field, 57.1 percent from deep and 100 percent from the charity stripe.

For what it's worth, James Worthy's 30-point triple-double came in the 1988 NBA Finals against the Detroit Pistons — which the Lakers won 4-3. He did it in Game 7, recording 36 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Purple and Gold to the promised land.

Like Worthy, LeBron is hoping to win the final game of the campaign and lift the Larry O'Brien trophy in a couple of months time. However, there is certainly a long way to go before he can achieve that feat.

After the Game 5 victory, LA will now wait for the winner of the Houston Rockets-Oklahoma City Thunder series. The Rockets are currently ahead 3-2 with an opportunity to close out the series on Monday.
