The Los Angeles Lakers haven't lost many games this season. In fact, before Tuesday's matchup against the Indiana Pacers, that number was just three.
Still, 24-4 is tied for the best winning percentage in the NBA. The team they're tied with? That would be the Milwaukee Bucks, the next team on the Lakers' schedule.
After the loss to the Pacers, Lakers superstar LeBron James promised to bounce back in the team's next game.
“We pride ourselves on trying not to lose two in a row so we want to come back on Thursday in Milwaukee and play Lakers basketball,” LeBron told reporters, per Spectrum SportsNet.
Not only have the Lakers not lost two in a row, but they haven't also lost since December 1 and were in the midst of a seven game winning streak prior to their matchup with the Pacers.
The Lakers didn't even make the playoffs last year but James, along with offseason addition Anthony Davis, have put the NBA on notice.
A few days from being 35 years old, James is still playing at an incredibly high level. In his 17th NBA season, the 6-foot-8 star is averaging 26.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and a league-leading 10.3 assists per game while shooting 50.2 percent from the field.
As for their next game, the Bucks have been just as impressive as James' Lakers. Led by 2019 NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee is in first place in the Eastern Conference. The team just had an 18-game win streak busted by the Dallas Mavericks, and the upcoming matchup with the Lakers should be one of the best of the season so far.
