Brees was expected to break the record prior to the game. And in an interview last week, Brees said that he never dreamed that such a moment would come in his career. As per Mike Triplett of ESPN, Brees said:
āIt's crazy. I never would've dreamed,ā Brees admitted last week, while insisting that this isn't the time to reflect and that he wanted to try and keep his weekly routine as normal as possible. āIt just speaks to the longevity. And it says a lot about the teams I've been on, the coaches, the teammates, the players. Everyone has a hand in this, and I hope they know that.ā
Brees can easily return the favor to James this upcoming season as the Lakers superstar is at a point in his career where record-breaking performances have come often.
