LeBron James had a chance to tie the game or take the lead with seconds to play against the Charlotte Hornets, but his shoe had other ideas. The Los Angeles Lakers star's sneaker went airborne with some hangtime of its own as LeBron drove to the basket.

James did get a pass off to Dennis Schroder but was already stumbling as his right shoe gave way. Had he not lost balance, the Lakers star could have potential drawn a foul for two free throws or potentially power his way to the hoop through the contact.

It's a brutal way to end the contest after the Lakers stormed back down double-digits, only to stumble – literally and figuratively – on the final drive.

The Lakers were down 16 points midway through the second quarter before they managed to storm back through a fourth-quarter rally spearheaded by LeBron James. He poured on 18 of his 34 points in the final 12 minutes, including either scoring on assisting on LA's last five made baskets.

Their last one had LeBron James tying the game at 130 off a fastbreak dime from Russell Westbrook.

The Hornets came into Crypto.com Arena that night with just two wins in their last 11 contests. It's certainly a contest Lakers fans wish they could have back.

LA won't have too much time to regroup as they head to Dallas next to take on Luka Doncic and the Mavericks for a Christmas Day showdown. Hopefully LeBron James gets a sturdier pair of sneakers from Santa for that one.
