When LeBron James announced this summer that he would be suiting up for the Los Angeles Lakers for the next four season, many were intrigued by how Lonzo Ball would fit beside him.
Unfortunately, we have yet to see them take the floor together as Ball has been recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery in July. While LeBron has already made his preseason debut for the purple and gold, Lonzo is still being eased back slowly and has been held out of preseason so far.
Head coach Luke Walton recently said that he is eager to see how the new look Lakers would look like with both LeBron and Lonzo on the court at the same time.
Walton also hinted that we might finally get a chance to see them play together on Wednesday in what looks to be a massive preseason showdown against the Golden State Warriors in Las Vegas.
The pairing is definitely on the watch list since Lonzo seems to thrive as the primary playmaker, a role which James will more than likely assume with his arrival this season. Last season, Ball was second among rookies in assists per game with 7.2 per game, while James finished with the best assist rate in his 15-year career so far, with 9.1 per contest.
Needless to say, how Walton will utilize their similar skill sets and playing styles will depend on how they look playing alongside each other. He'll put this test into the fire early against the defending champion Warriors.
