It's no secret that Magic Johnson is not happy about the current state his Los Angeles Lakers are currently in. He's been critical of this team this season but on Saturday night, the Lakers icon absolutely went off.

Magic was part of ESPN's crew during Saturday's pre-game show as the Lakers hosted Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Johnson appeared to be in a foul mood as he set his sights on Westbrook and how the former league MVP has carried himself this season:

“Quit battling the press,” Magic said. “Take ownership and accountability and say, ‘Hey, I haven't played well but I got a chance to turn it around.' So I’m tired of excuses, it’s time to take ownership and say, ‘I've just been playing poorly but hopefully I can turn it around.’”

For some context, Westbrook came out with some controversial comments following LA's blowout loss to the Clippers on Thursday night. Russ said that he had no expectations when he joined the Lakers this offseason. Unsurprisingly, Westbrook got absolutely obliterated for his remarks, and Magic Johnson just added a lot of fuel to this growing wildfire.

“Young man, you gotta know there was expectations when you call LeBron and Anthony Davis and said you wanted to be a Laker,” Johnson said, “You saw Kobe Bryant play and win all those championships. And Kobe said you were the guy. So you know you had to come here knowing that it's about championships when you put the purple and gold on.”

Johnson was so heated that he had to bring the late, great Kobe Bryant into the conversation. It's hard not to wonder what the Black Mamba's thoughts would be on how bad this Lakers team is right now. Regardless of how bleak things were for LA during their dark years in the Kobe era and even right after Bryant retired, it just feels like this current state of the Lakers is just worse. There's also no denying that Russell Westbrook just isn't making things any better with his actions on and off the court. It's so hard to be a Laker fan right now.
