Kevin Durant's comments about the “toxic” environment surrounding LeBron James went viral in La La Land, yet Los Angeles Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo thinks some aspects are getting overlooked.
Despite the bad rap The King has gotten in recent recruiting efforts, Rondo lauded his leadership and innate ability to unite the locker room through his knowledge of basketball and a never-ceasing competitive spirit.
“LeBron is a great teammate, and that may be overlooked… What he does for these young guys is unbelievable,” Rondo told Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. “He leads by example every night. Well, not even every night — every day when he comes into the gym.
“LeBron’s mind is unbelievable too. I love to just kind of sit there and listen to him teach the young guys certain things, and I try to pick up things I can learn from him as well. Having a guy with that type of knowledge on the game is very helpful.”

Rondo has been known to be one of the league's most cerebral players, so it's no wonder to see him have an admiration for another one of the NBA's most brilliant basketball minds.
Like James, Rondo has been often beloved by his younger teammates for his ability to dissect and teach the game, the same way he learned through older veterans as a member of the Boston Celtics during the early part of his career.
Rondo has managed to keep a decent profile even after bouncing around the league, most recently leading the NBA in assists with 11.7 per game during the 2015-16 season as a member of the Sacramento Kings.
