It was reported last week that a meeting between LeBron James' camp and the highest-ranking executives of the Los Angeles Lakers took place. The primary objective of the said meeting was to discuss LeBron's future in LA amid rumors of a potential exit. It sounds like the sit-down was successful in terms of putting to bed, albeit temporarily, the whispers about James' discontent with the Lakers organization.

While this is all well and good, it appears that LeBron still has some brewing beef with one prominent Lakers figure. He may no longer be officially connected with the team, but there's no denying that LA legend Magic Johnson remains to be an important individual within the organization. According to ESPN's NBA insider Brian Windhorst, LeBron and Magic aren't exactly best friends at the moment:

“I also think it’s interesting to point out that I’m not so sure that LeBron and Magic are on the greatest of terms right now,” Windhorst said on a recent episode of the Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective podcast (h/t Brad Sullivan of Lakers Daily). “LeBron was very upset that Magic pulled the ripcord after the first year and didn’t even tell him, just did it.

“There’s scar tissue there, and earlier this year, when Magic criticized the Lakers, and rightly so — it wasn’t hard to criticize the Lakers — and LeBron was asked about it, LeBron declined to talk about it.”

It is worth noting that it was actually Magic Johnson who recruited LeBron to LA back in 2019. However, Johnson shockingly stepped down from his post after James' first year in Hollywood. It was a move that took many by surprise, and apparently, this included LeBron himself.

Since then, Magic has been a staunch critic of the Lakers. He has sent praise to his beloved team whenever he deems it necessary, but for the most part, Johnson hasn't held back in calling a spade a spade in terms of the Lakers' struggles this season. It's not surprising that this has not sat too well with LeBron, and as such, the notion that these two are at odds does seem highly feasible.
