Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has a bit of a reputation for play-acting. This time around, however, he was given a dose of his own medicine by Detroit Pistons forward Blake Griffin, who himself could not help but give out a giggle after the contentious foul call.
Here's Blake Griffin drawing a phantom foul call on LeBron, who was clearly unhappy with the play (via ClutchPoints on Twitter):

Blake Griffin had to lower his head to hide his reaction, but you could clearly see once he lifted it that he was laughing about the play. He had to keep his emotions in check because his reaction would have been so telling. Then again, the referee already blew his whistle, so even if he did catch Griffin's suspect reaction, it's not as if he could cancel the foul call.

The Pistons came into Thursday's matchup against the defending champs in desperate need of a win. Blake Griffin and Co. have lost five out of their last six games.
The Pistons and Blake Griffin are 4-14, near the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Remember that this season is 72 games long, not 82, and that teams therefore have fewer opportunities to catch up in the standings if they crater in the first chunk of the season schedule. The Pistons have to see what they are able to do in the next several weeks before the NBA trade deadline. If they can't make a push to improve their position, they will be sellers at the deadline and will need to consider how to adjust their roster with an eye toward 2022. Getting a top-three pick in the draft — which could mean Cade Cunningham of Oklahoma State or Evan Mobley of USC, among others — could actually give Detroit the boost the franchise needs.
The next several weeks will be very interesting for Blake Griffin and his team.
