By now, it's quite clear that US President Donald Trump and Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James are not each other's biggest fans. The POTUS once again threw some gasoline on his fiery rivalry with the four-time NBA MVP, leading his rabid supporters to “LeBron James sucks” chants during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Monday.

While the mere mention of LeBron's name will send Trump to a frenzy these days, there was actually a time when he held The King in high regard. An old Trump tweet began resurfacing online shortly after his latest jab at the four-time NBA champion. Turns out, Trump actually congratulated LeBron seven years ago when he was named ESPY's Athlete of the Year.

Note that Trump once called the LBJ “a great guy,” a stark contrast to the insults he has directed to LeBron recently.

The 74-year-old Trump, who is seeking a second straight term at the White House, meanwhile, does have a strong following of fans who have also been critical of LeBron and the NBA's all-out support for the Black Lives Matter movement. Even UFC welterweight and staunch Trump supporter Colby Covington has also criticized the Lakers forward in recent months.

LeBron, who founded the More Than A Vote initiative, has also poked the bear several times. The 36-year-old megastar has openly spoken against Trump's administration from the get-go and has urged everyone to vote to put an end to his rule. LeBron also publicly endorsed Joe Biden's bid for the presidency.

With the 2020 US election in full swing, expect Trump and James to continue throwing barbs at one another.
