The Los Angeles Lakers are rumored to be looking for a new head coach next season, as Luke Walton hasn't been able to lead them to success despite the arrival of LeBron James last summer. A lot of people believe that Walton doesn't have what it takes to call the shots for a championship contender.
But veteran Warriors center Andrew Bogut begs to disagree with how most people see Walton. Walton was Steve Kerr's lead assistant in Golden State before taking the Lakers job in 2016. Bogut told Mark Medina of the Mercury News that Luke is a very capable and talented coach.
“He knows how to coach, first and foremost. The knocks on him about not being able to coach are wrong. He’s got a high basketball IQ. He knows the game better than anybody. But there’s a lot of politics that go around different NBA franchises. He’s fallen victim to that. That’s what I think. The results speak for themselves. They aren’t great, so that hurts him. But I truly think there are decisions made within that organization that really affected him.”

This isn't the first time that a player has shown support for Walton. Lakers youngsters Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, and Brandon Ingram have defended him publicly. Lakers president and controlling owner Jeanie Buss is also a supporter of Walton.
However, the Lakers are in win-now mode, and they would like to maximize James' three remaining years with the team.
