Unrestricted free agent center DeAndre Jordan has agreed to a one-year, $24.1 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks after opting out of the last year of his contract with the L.A. Clippers, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

Jordan passed on $24.1 million for 2018-19 with the Clippers, only to take the same amount with the Mavericks, setting him up for a big offseason in 2019, where he's bound to make even more money under an expanding salary cap.

The lanky center previously walked back out of a verbal deal with owner Mark Cuban in 2015, but this time around, it might ust be the right time without his former teammates Chris Paul (Houston Rockets) and Blake Griffin (Detroit Pistons) now in different places.

Jordan will now have the chance to team up with young talents like Dennis Smith Jr., rookie Luka Doncic, and leading scorer Harrison Barnes, while enjoying Dirk Nowitkzi's farewell season.

The deal between both sides can not be inked until the moratorium is over on July 6, which leaves a few days for Jordan to iron out details on his future.
