The Dallas Mavericks have high expectations of their rookie in Dennis Smith Jr. But what could be higher is the ex-NC State Wolfpack hotshot’s vertical. Smith has always shown his monstrous hops in high school, college, and in the Summer League.
And now, he’s been unleashing his serious boing on his Mavericks teammates as the team prepares for the upcoming regular season. Tim MacMahon of ESPN offers a glimpse of how Smith has been putting other Mavericks on posters.
Harrison Barnes on Dennis Smith Jr.: "He'll dunk on you. Nerlens experienced that in the pickup games."

Poor Nerlens Noel. If he only knew that Smith would be mercilessly dunking on him in practices, he might not have chosen to sign a one-year deal to return to Dallas in the summer. But could it be that it was Harrison Barnes who was actually posterized by Smith and only managed to get to a reporter first to flip the story and make Noel look like the victim?
We wouldn’t have to wait for long before Smith showcases his insane athleticism in the NBA. The Mavs' 2017-18 season will tip off on Oct. 18 when they host the Atlanta Hawks at the American Airlines Center.
