It was announced on Monday that, as expected, Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant has been named as the 2021-22 Most Improved Player of the Year. Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks was one of the first to react on Twitter as he gave Morant his flowers for this epic win.

Trae had nothing but praise and words of encouragement for the Grizzlies star after beating out Darius Garland and Dejounte Murray for this year's MIP award:

Trae Young is one of the brightest young stars in the league today and Morant is definitely in the same weight class as the Hawks point guard. It's just awesome to see game recognizing game here.

At this point in the season, both Young and Morant have bigger fish to fry. Both the Hawks and the Grizzlies are in the midst of a first-round dog fight against the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves, respectively. These two young stars might not meet each other in the Finals this season, but there are many more years to come of what should be an epic (and friendly) rivalry between these two.
