Ja Morant's tremendous play this season finally got the recognition it deserves after the Memphis Grizzlies guard was named as a starter for the 2022 NBA All-Star Game. Morant was treated to an epic hero's welcome by the Grizzlies staff as he made his way to the locker room inside the FedEx Forum ahead of Friday night's marquee matchup against the Utah Jazz.

This was indeed an epic welcome worthy of Morant's outstanding achievement. Now in his third season in the league, this is the first time the 22-year-old has been named in the All-Star squad. The 2019 second overall pick is putting up career-high numbers in what is easily the best season of his young career: 25.8 points on 48.9 percent shooting, 5.9 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 1.3 steals, while also connecting on 1.6 triples per game on a 35.8-percent clip. More importantly, his strong play has led to the Grizzlies emerging as a serious contender for this year's title.

It's all business for Morant on Friday, though, as they take on the Jazz, who themselves are also one of the top teams in the West. A win against Utah on Friday should only further establish the Grizzlies' title credentials.
