Even in a losing effort, Ja Morant still managed to once again make notable history in the Memphis Grizzlies’ ongoing NBA playoff run.

Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. led the scoring charge for the Grizzlies in the narrow one-point defeat to the Golden State Warriors in the opener of their Western Conference semifinal series.

Morant once again had his way with scoring inside the paint en route to a game-high 34 points. On the other hand, Jackson sure caught the Warriors off guard from beyond the arc, knocking down six total 3-pointers.

Overall, Morant and Jackson became just the second duo age-22 or younger in NBA playoff history to each score 30 points in the same contest. Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant are the only other duo in playoff history to reach this feat, which they did so three times during their run together with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The stout scoring outings from Morant and Jackson may be just what they need at this stage in the playoffs. For one, the Grizzlies guard shot worse than 41 percent in each of his team's final four games of the first-round series win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, so his 45 percent shooting performance in Game 1 could end up being a turning point for him. More so, this was Jackson’s first 30-point game of his entire campaign, including the regular season.

Morant and company now have their sights set on Game 2 of the series coming on Tuesday.
