When Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant suffered a non-contact leg injury on Friday against the Atlanta Hawks, several people feared it was an ACL or Achilles tear. After all, the way Morant suffered the injury was reminiscent of several season-ending and serious injuries that fans have seen on NBA players in the past.

Fortunately, hours after the injury, the Grizzlies revealed that Morant suffered a left knee sprain. While it's still a serious issue that might take some time to heal, it's not as severe as feared.

Upon learning of the results, Morant couldn't help but express his joy that he avoided a significant injury that could have ended his season. On a series of Tweets, the Grizzlies youngster shared how “blessed” he is.

It's still unknown how long Ja Morant will be out, though the Grizzlies are expected to be cautious of his injury and won't rush him.

Still, it's quite frustrating that Morant suffered an injury amid a season when he is poised to make his first All-Star appearance. The Grizzlies star is averaging 24.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game. With his play, he has led Memphis to a 9-10 record in the tough Western Conference–well in contention for the playoffs, or at least the play-in tournament.

In the meantime, with Morant likely out for the next few games, Grind City will have to rely on the likes of Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane and Dillon Brooks to carry the scoring load for the team.
