Ja Morant's dad was in attendance for the Memphis Grizzlies' marquee matchup against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night. Apparently, he knew all along that the Grizzlies would emerge victorious in this one. True enough, his confident message turned prophetic as a shorthanded Memphis side upset Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and the rest of the Nets, 132-120.
Ja Morant, who was forced to sit out the game due to a right knee injury, just had to react to his dad's fearless forecast:

Tee Morant was absolutely right. Even without his son, the Grizzlies were able to hold off the mighty Nets. It was a total team effort from Memphis, who had no less than three players scoring at least 20 points in Desmond Bane (23), De'Anthony Melton (23), and Dillon Brooks (21). The Grizzlies bench combined for 52 points on the evening, proving just how deep this team truly is.
Both Kevin Durant (35 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists) and Kyrie Irving (43 points, eight assists, six triples) were at their best, but despite their heroics, Brooklyn just couldn't handle the Grizzlies in this one.
Ja Morant isn't expected to be out for an extended period and he should be back sooner rather than later. Right now, though, it is clear that his team can manage without him.
