Against the Phoenix Suns on Monday, Ja Morant showed everyone why the Memphis Grizzlies need him.

While a lot has been said how Memphis has found success without their star guard, Morant let his game do the talking and proved why the Grizzlies are better with him on the floor. With five seconds left on the clock and the team trailing the Suns, 113-112, Ja took matters into his own hands and delivered the game-winner for Grind City.

It looked like Morant won't be able to make it through the Suns' tough defense, but he is one of the most brilliant scorers for a reason.

Right after the game, Ja Morant opened up about the game plan for the last shot. He admitted that it was their plan all along to fake a hand off and attack the basket, and that's what he did. However, it certainly wasn't as easy as it sounds.

The Grizzlies guard also heaped praise on his team for stepping up amid the COVID-19 outbreak and injuries that caused them to miss key players–including the young star himself.

Morant finished the game against the Suns with 33 points on top of four rebounds, four assists and two steals. He went 14-of-25 from the field (3-of-5 from deep) for a rather efficient outing, as he and Desmond Bane combined for a total of 65 points in the 114-113 victory.

With the way the Grizzlies are playing, Memphis fans certainly have a lot to look forward to in the future.
