The Grizzlies are coming off the worst season in franchise history. Memphis won only 22 games last year, finishing with the second worst record in the Western Conference. With the fourth overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft, the Grizzlies selected power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. from Michigan State.

Point guard Mike Conley is back from the heel injury which forced him to miss all but 12 games last year. Conley and Gasol are the last two players left from the “Grit and Grind” era. The Grizzlies are hoping that Marc Gasol just suffered a stinger and no structural damage.
