Memphis Grizzlies controlling-owner Robert Pera called point guard Mike Conley Jr. and center Marc Gasol to make them aware the organization will include them in trade talks ahead of the impending Feb. 7 trade deadline.
Conley spoke to reporters about his thoughts on the matter, noting it was something he expected after the Grizzlies have lost 23 of their last 30 games — making it near inevitable to go in a different direction.
“It's part of the business,” said Mike Conley. “It's not like we've been traded yet or anything like that, it's just part of it and we knew the way things have been going the last few weeks that anything could happen.
“From here on it's about coming to work and continually to do things to help this team. Whether I'm here or not, I'll do everything I can to help my guys, my teammates and my coaches.”

This is surely a hard-hitting meeting to have with the owner of the team, but the Grizzlies have been down this path before last season, when signs were heavy that a dissolution of this roster needed to happen.
After drafting Jaren Jackson Jr. with the fourth overall pick and reaching the top spot in the West through a very brief stint in the beginning of the season, it seemed the Grizzlies were bound for a rebirth, but the last 30 games have been a colossal example of how tough the Western Conference is and how teams like the Grizzlies have been eaten alive by it.
Conley and Gasol are two of the oldest players in the roster, and two they'd be best moving on from before rebuilding around young faces.
