The lay of the land around Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley has changed in the past month. His longtime running mate, Marc Gasol, was traded to the Toronto Raptors ahead of the NBA trade deadline, altering the landscape of the organization Conley has called home since the 2007-08 season. Despite there having been trade winds swirling about him as well, Conley seems to have settled back in as the face of the franchise for now, having this to say via ESPN following Saturday's win over the Dallas Mavericks:

“It feels good to just see guys really developing in front of your eyes. With so many new faces and young guys, having a game like this just shows you what we can do when everything's clicking.”

Everything certainly was clicking for Memphis, who mollywhopped the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, 111-81, with Conley needing to log just 23 minutes due to the nature of the victory. Particularly impressing were Jonas Valanciunas, who logged yet another double-double since coming over in the Gasol trade, and Jevon Carter, who knocked down four 3-pointers off the bench, finishing with 15 points in just 12 minutes.

Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, they will be on the outside of the playoff picture for the second straight year. And while Mike Conley wasn't traded at the deadline, there is a good chance he follows Gasol out the door this offseason as Memphis launches into a rebuild.
