The NBA is currently making strides in promoting gender equality within the association, and Memphis Grizzlies guard Mike Conley is all for it. Conley has recently publicly proclaimed his support for the employment of women throughout the sport.
Speaking to Teresa M. Walker of The Washington Post, Conley explained how he and the rest of the Grizzlies organization are very much open to the advancement of women authority figures in the NBA.
“We welcome it, and we do want to see more of that,” Conley said, “and I think that will help bridge that gray area and all the things that have been happening with the Mavs and situations like that and hopefully it will never occur again.”

Mike Conley referred to the current scandal involving the head office of the Dallas Mavericks. Women made various accusations of sexual misconduct from within the organization's ranks. The investigation is still underway, but Conley was quick to speak out against the issue. He comes from a franchise that prides itself on it's respect for women. Most front offices don't look like his team's.
The Grizzlies are a gender neutral organization, because of their placement of several women in important positions. Chantal Hassard, the team's Vice President, is a significant female figure in the Memphis front office. The team also employs Nicki Gross, who is currently the only female coach in the D-League, as a basketball analyst.
The sport's nature results in a very gender biased system in the league. However, stories like this prove that great effort is being put in to promote equality. Women are just as passionate about basketball as men, hence the disparity should start to shrink.
