The 2019 NBA Draft is less than two weeks away, and it appears that the Memphis Grizzlies are already rolling out the red carpet for Murray State point guard Ja Morant.
Morant — the presumptive No. 2 overall pick — was spotted in downtown Memphis as he met with team officials on Sunday, per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

The Grizzlies made no bones about their interest in Morant following the Draft Lottery, all but guaranteeing that they would select him at the No. 2 spot.
Despite playing for a mid-major, Morant's stock seemed to skyrocket as the 2018-19 college basketball season progressed. The self-proclaimed “Point God” was a nightly highlight reel, showcasing his athleticism with breathtaking poster dunks and phenomenal defensive recoveries.

And when the lights shined brightest, Morant continued to put on a show. In Murray State's upset of the Marquette Golden Eagles in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Morant scored 17 points and added 16 assists and 11 rebounds. It was the first triple-double in an NCAA Tournament game since 2012, with his 16 assists the second-most in tournament history.
Morant followed this spectacular introduction to the national spotlight with a 28-point performance against the Florida State Seminoles, although the Racers lost handily.
With the Grizzlies dialed in on drafting their point guard of the future, trade rumors have begun to circulate surrounding Mike Conley.
Memphis may elect to retain Conley as a mentor to Morant. However, Conley's trade value may be at an all-tie high after he averaged a career-high 21.1 points and 6.4 assists this past season.
Whatever they decide, Morant is certainly the best point guard prospect in this draft, and he may even project as the best player in the long term.
