The Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly interested in Lithuania's Sarunas Jasikevicius for their head coaching vacancy, according to Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

The Grizzlies plan to meet with Jasikevicius soon. Memphis fired JB Bickerstaff after the season ended. The Grizzlies went 33-49 in 2018-19.

Jasikevicius, 43, has rapidly built a reputation as a legitimate NBA head-coaching candidate in his three seasons as coach of Zalgiris in Lithuania.

Known for a strong-willed leadership style and teams that exhibit elite ball movement and offensive execution, Jasikevicius has so far shown an ability to get his Lithuanian and EuroLeague teams to overachieve.

The Grizzlies are looking to build their franchise around youngster Jaren Jackson Jr. Memphis traded center Marc Gasol at the February trade deadline and could move point guard Mike Conley this summer.

Jasikevicius played 138 games in the NBA from 2005-07. He played for the Indiana Pacers and Golden State Warriors. Jasikevicius had a stellar EuroLeague career.

After making the playoffs for seven-straight seasons, the Grizzlies have missed the postseason two years in a row. Memphis needs to find the right man to lead the franchise moving forward. The Grizzlies thought David Fizdale was going to be that guy, but he had a falling out with Gasol and was fired 19 games into the 2017-18 season.
