San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has been in the NBA years before Ja Morant was even born, but he has never seen anyone quite like the Memphis Grizzlies star.

Everyone knows by now that Morant is a legitimate superstar. He has exceeded expectations since being drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019, working tirelessly to become one of the best players in the NBA today.

But what exactly makes him different compared to his peers? Coach Pop admits that aside from his “uncommon speed,” Morant's aggressiveness and improvements in other areas of his game make him a truly “special talent.”

“He's getting to the rim constantly, and no matter what you seem to do against the guy, he gets there. But he also has a little mid-range game with his floater and he's starting to shoot the 3-ball well,” Coach Pop said of Morant prior to the Spurs-Grizzlies game on Friday, per Tom Orsborn of San Antonio Express-News.

For what it's worth, Ja Morant showed exactly those traits when he led Memphis to a huge 118-105 win over San Antonio in their showdown. While Gregg Popovich and Co. knew what Morant can do, it's just really difficult to stop him.

Morant finished the contest with a game-high 30-points on top of six rebounds and eight assists. More amazingly, he did it really efficiently with a 66.7 percent shooting clip–all while going 3-of-3 from deep.

Indeed, if there is one thing Popovich learned, it's the fact that what he thinks about Morant is true and more.
