This is a lost season for the Memphis Grizzlies and at this point, they are trying to get younger players playing time and trying to find out which players can help in the future.

This is a good time for teams that are building for the future to sign players from the G-League to 10-day contracts and see if they can help in the future.

The Grizzlies have decided to go that route and will be signing Xavier Rathan-Mayes to a 10-day contract.

Xavier-Rathan-Mayes is a shooting guard coming to the Grizzlies from the Westchester Knicks. The 23-year-old has started 37 games this year putting up 16.6 points, 7.2 assists, 6.4 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game.

Rathan-Mayes was born in Canada but attended high school at Huntington Prep School in West Virginia and played alongside Andrew Wiggins.

He played his college ball at Florida State and as a freshman averaged 14.9 points per game. He went undrafted in the 2017 draft but signed a non guaranteed contract with the Knicks. He was the final cut off their preseason camp and was assigned to their G-League team.

If he does make an appearance for the Grizzlies, it will be his NBA debut. It is unclear how much they actually plan to play him, but with nothing to lose for the Grizzlies at this point, it wouldn't be surprising to see him get some good run to see if they want to give him another contract.
