The Miami Heat's 95-78 loss to the Boston Celtics might have included the Heat losing one of their key players for some time.

After Duncan Robinson inadvertently fell on Kyle Lowry's ankle in the third quarter, Lowry left the game in visible pain, hopping on one foot to the sidelines, and did not return. The team announced that he had suffered a sprained left ankle.

The Heat had been off to a very hot start with Lowry so far, especially on the defensive end. In six games, while playing 31.8 minutes per contest, the six-time All-Star and 2019 champion averaged 10.7 points, a team-leading 7.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds while shooting 40.0% from the field and 37.1% from beyond the arc.

Even if the Heat are fortunate enough for Lowry not to be sidelined for a few games, his availability is important to monitor. He has played less than 60 games in each of the last two seasons. The 35-year-old has the veteran savvy and high-end talent to elevate the Heat back into title contention.

Miami will likely look to elevate Tyler Herro's role if Lowry has to miss games, as the young shooting guard has shined so far this season. They'll also rely more heavily on Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. The Heat's next game is against the Utah Jazz at home on Saturday.
