Jimmy Butler has been the best player for the Miami Heat throughout the season. This is exactly why it comes as no surprise that the Heat are down 3-2 against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals amid Butler's struggles in the series.

If you ask Patrick Beverley, however, he is of the belief that Butler just doesn't have it in him to be the best player on a championship squad. Speaking on ESPN's First Take, the outspoken Minnesota Timberwolves guard explained exactly why he thinks Butler just isn't good enough to lead the Heat to a title:

“Initially I said yes but now it’s no,” Beverley responded when asked if he thinks Butler can be the best player on a title squad (h/t Justin Benjamin of Heat Nation). “That’s no discredit to his game. I love Jimmy. He’s a two-way player. He plays both ends off the floor. I just don’t think he can shoot the ball from the three good enough. He’s been the main catalyst. … When he was with Philly (Philadelphia 76ers), he wasn’t the main guy there. Obviously, he spent a little time with the [Minnesota] Timberwolves, couldn’t get it done there. In Miami, couldn’t get it done there. With the [Chicago] Bulls, couldn’t get it done there. And this is young Jimmy, so I don’t know if older Jimmy can do that.”

Beverley is speaking some hard truths here. However difficult this may be to accept for Heat fans, the truth of the matter here is that Beverley is right. Butler hasn't been able to lead any of his teams to a championship.

Butler still has a chance to prove Beverley wrong, though. The Heat may be down in the series against the Celtics, but they're not out just yet.
