The Cleveland Cavaliers were unable to prolong the inevitable in the 2018 NBA Finals versus the Golden State Warriors. As a result, the rumor train regarding the future of small forward LeBron James has already left the station.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding where James will end up this offseason. According to Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press, the Miami Heat have seen their chances of a potential reunion increase since the series finale:

I don’t think LeBron comes back. But based on conversations over the last 30 minutes I’ve raised the percentage of a LeBron-Miami reunion a little bit.

A James-Miami reunion does not seem too far-fetched at the moment. He made headlines with “The Decision” back in 2010 to join the Heat to play alongside shooting guard Dwayne Wade and power forward Chris Bosh. Needless to say, “The King” enjoyed plenty of success in South Beach. More importantly, team president Pat Riley has shown he is more than capable of surrounding James with a strong supporting cast.

Miami is currently among the early frontrunners to sign him this summer. The Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets, however, have been pegged as the overall favorites to sign James in free agency.

Aside from a successful tenure with the Heat, his family could be another deciding factor in his decision to come back. James has cited that they will play a major role in the process and although they may have spent the last four years in Cleveland, their roots always were in Miami. At this point, the team will need all the help they can get if they hope to even contend for his services.
