Miami Heat All-Star small forward Jimmy Butler turned 31 on Monday, and he made sure his rookies sang happy birthday to him at practice down in Orlando, Florida.

Butler also made it a point to remind his rookies that they needed to look him in the eye while singing.

Jimmy Butler and the Heat will face the Boston Celtics in the 2020 Eastern Conference Finals. This is Butler's first trip to the conference finals, so the Texas native is excited about getting the series started on Tuesday.

Butler's life story is incredible. He used to be homeless after his mother kicked him out of the house back in Texas. The five-time NBA All-Star also played junior college basketball before transferring to Marquette.

The Chicago Bulls drafted Butler with the 30th overall pick in the 2011 draft, but he only played 8.5 minutes per game as a rookie. Slowly but surely, though, Butler started to get more minutes on the Bulls and he took full advantage of it.

Jimmy won the 2015 Most Improved Player of the Year Award and he's now one of the best two-way players in the entire NBA.

With the Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers and Heat, Butler has career NBA averages of 17.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 581 regular season games. He has taken his game to another level for Miami in the 2020 playoffs, as Jimmy Buckets is putting up 21.8 points, 5.6 boards and 4.2 dimes.

The Heat are so thankful to have Butler be the new franchise player in the post-Dwyane Wade era. Now, only time will tell if he can lead the team to championships like Wade did.
