Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has a unique ability to cover large swaths of the court in just a few, freakishly long strides —contributing to his domination in close proximity to the basket.

“Right in between the half court and the 3-point line, I can take two steps and dunk,” Antetokounmpo said to the media after the Bucks' win over the Boston Celtics on Friday.

The 2019 MVP shed light on precisely how much ground he can cover and how he utilizes his particular set of skills. Per Joe Vardon of The Athletic, the Greek Freak acknowledged that while he knows he “can cover a lot of ground with one dribble, or with two steps, or with two dribbles,” he's still honing precisely when to cover the ground himself and when to advance the ball and allow his teammates to do the work.

“I just try to be smart,” the Bucks star explained. “There’s going to be times when I’m going to cover a lot of ground, but I’m trying to throw the ball ahead to my teammates and they can cover the ground, and then I can come behind them and just be smart because…the defense is loading so much.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo also emphasized the importance of cleaning the glass as a way to get up court and encourage transition opportunities. The Bucks have been the top rebounding team in basketball in 2019-20, one factor in their league-best 54-12 record.

“I feel like we can benefit by rebounding the ball, throwing it ahead, and once I get to the 3-point line I can get it back and then cover ground. So, yeah, I do realize how much ground I cover,” Giannis added.

The Bucks and Antetokounmpo — the presumed front runner for the 2019-20 MVP and Defensive Player of the Year — picked up right where they left off in their first official seeding game on Friday, defeating the Celtics 119-112. Antetokounmpo led the way with a ridiculous line of 36 points (14-20 FG), 15 rebounds, and seven assists.
