Minnesota Timberwolves new president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas wasted no time in aiding his cause to keep Karl-Anthony Towns upon taking the helm of the front office. In his four seasons, Towns has gone through three coaches and a very public tiff with Jimmy Butler.

Rosas is working to repair any damage and to pitch the benefits of staying in Minnesota. It didn't take long before the new suit called Towns a “top-10 player in the league” and predicted he will have a “legendary career.”

“I want him to be confident in his ability to succeed with us so he can do something that’s never been done here,” Rosas said, according to Ben Golliver of The Washington Post. “That’s starting and finishing his career as a Minnesota Timberwolf.”

That's a rather tall task for the newcomer, as even franchise legends like Kevin Garnett were forced to leave the franchise at some point in search of wins. Kevin Love, who was the closest to Garnett in stardom, left after six seasons with the team, and is now en route to his sixth campaign with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Towns signed a beefy five-year, $158 million extension of his rookie contract last season, which can make him a Timberwolf until 2023-24, when he will make $36 million for that season. Yet in order to prolong his stay in The Twin Cities, Rosas must show him a revamped culture and a real chance to win where he is, or risk him taking the same path that many small market free agents have taken in recent years, leaving for the bright lights of a big market.
