Karl-Anthony Towns podium presence has been rather polarizing, to say the least. His non-committal and easygoing tone can rub some people off the wrong way. Case in point: his “wine” comments after the Minnesota Timberwolves' Game 3 collapse against the Memphis Grizzlies. Some people took offense to Towns' statements, saying that he doesn't care enough.
Well, Karl-Anthony Towns certainly proved this narrative wrong in Game 4. With the series on the line, KAT delivered what could be the game of his life, scoring 33 points and grabbing 14 boards for the Timberwolves. It's a performance that is worthy of song, and his clutch heroics only add to the legend of this game.
With just a few seconds left in the game, the Grizzlies intentionally fouled Towns to keep their hopes alive for the game. However, their gambit failed, as the Timberwolves star nailed both free throws to end the game. That isn't even the best part of that moment, though: when asked what he was thinking about during the free-throws, Towns said that: (via Jon Krawcyznski)
KAT on the game-sealing FTs: "I was thinking about what I was going to eat after."

That's cold from Towns, man. You could also possibly interpret this as a subtle dig at Barkley and his critics from a few days ago. Many old fans of the game want to see “passion” and “intensity” out of their stars after a bad loss like that. Seeing the Timberwolves star talk about “drinking wine” likely rubbed the Chuckster the wrong way.
Regardless of what he's going to eat, it's certainly going to taste amazing. The Timberwolves avenged that bad loss with a performance that will erase any doubt about this team's passion. Karl-Anthony Towns also proved that he can turn it up when he needs to, and that Games 2 and 3 were simply just a dud. The Wolves just made this series a hell of a lot more interesting.
The Grizzlies are surely going to bounce back against the Timberwolves from this game with a fiery passion. If the ‘Wolves want to keep their Cinderella season alive, they'll have to maintain this intensity moving forward. You can't slack off against a talented, well-coached team like Memphis. They've already learned that the hard way.
